As communities grow and less land becomes available for new development, remodeling grabs an increasing segment of the construction market making it a more attractive and profitable specialization in the construction industry.
With this in mind, members of the HBADOC founded the Remodelor’s® Council. The project had four goals in mind when the process began, all driven by a desire to improve their businesses and the services they offered: 1) To create a reputable remodeling referral source for the community; 2) To take advantage of educational opportunities; 3) To get to know local professional remodelers; 4) To network with associates that provide valuable products and services.
With the enthusiasm and energy of the early members along with the support of the HBA staff, the council has gotten off to a great start! The council has been privy to speakers on many issues including, legal aspects of a remodeling business, remodeling design, marketing, safety, business management and even a session on how to pump up sales skills. Builders have visited associate members’ showrooms, the council has offered a statement at a public hearing on the Orange County Recycled Materials Ordinance, and provided remodeling talents to build new dressing rooms for the Durham Crisis Center’s thrift shop.
If you are making a business of remodeling, or if you are building a business serving remodelors, this is a great group for you. There is an additional fee for the Remodelor’s Council® of $75 per year, but it is well worth the investment. Be a part of this unique group of construction professionals. Meetings are held at 3 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month at the HBADOC office.
