Professional Remodelers
As communities grow and more choices are needed to satisfy residents' preferred "American Dream" of homeownership. In some cases, the owners just want to modernize some aspect of a home they have enjoyed living in. In others, changing physical capacity dictates including more accessible features. Family size increases - and decreases - can leave a home's physical characteristics out of sync with the owners' desires. Remodeling is a choice that satisfies an increasing segment of the construction market -- making it a more attractive and profitable specialization in the construction industry.
With this in mind, members of the HBADOC founded the Professional Remodeler’s of the HBADOC (PRHBADOC). The project had four goals in mind when the process began, all driven by a desire to improve their businesses and the services they offered: 1) To create an easily accessible remodeling referral resource for the community; 2) To provide educational opportunities for HBA members who focus on remodeling; 3) To get to know local professional remodelers; 4) To network with associates who provide valuable products and services.
With the enthusiasm and energy of the early members along with the support of the HBA staff, the council has gotten off to a great start! The council members have heard speakers on many issues, including the following: legal aspects of a remodeling business; remodeling design; marketing; safety, business management and even a session on how to pump up sales skills. Builders have visited associate members’ showrooms, the council has offered a statement at a public hearing on the Orange County Recycled Materials Ordinance, and Council members have provided remodeling talents to build new dressing rooms for the Durham Crisis Center’s thrift shop.
When looking for a remodeler for your home, make sure you select someone who has made the additional commitment of joining the PRHBADOC. Membership says they value professionalism and continuing education and are committed to providing quality and value to their customers.
